2013

OVID Hexameter

Tasting Note

The 2013 vintage was an epic year in Napa Valley - a year of remarkable alignment. The second year of drought started with an early and dry budbreak and set followed by a warm, long and seamless growing season. Harvest was impeccable too, stretching the length of September, allowing us a leisurely picking window and yielding expressive and utterly ripe fruit from each grape varietal in our vineyard.

This 2013 Hexameter wine is both opulent and expressive–a rare combination. It features nearly 65% of the captivating Cabernet Franc of this vintage interwoven with lush Cabernet Sauvignon and silken Merlot. Notes of vibrant pomegranate, forest floor, blackberries & blueberries combine with touches of violet, sage and mocha to create this sumptious wine with exceptional balance.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

A “wow” wine in so many different aspects, this multi-dimensional classic should age beautifully for 20 or more years.

Their exercise with a Cabernet Franc-dominated wine, the 2013 Hexameter (a 500-case blend of 64% Cabernet Franc, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot) is pushing perfection. Its beautiful notes of acacia flowers, forest floor, blackberries and blueberries interwoven with touches of barrique, licorice and spice are followed by an even more intense and complex palate with silky, ripe tannins, opulent, full-bodied texture, and beautiful purity. A “wow” wine in so many different aspects, this multi-dimensional classic should age beautifully for 20 or more years.
