Six-Bottle Collection 2022 White Experiment

Experiment W9.2
$570.00

The Experimental Story

Put simply, the extremely limited suite of wines that comprise our Experiment Series vary dramatically from year to year, each one a poetic answer to a new set of questions posed by the art of winemaking. While we call these ever-changing wines by the name Experiment, they might also be described as an ‘Investigation’ or ‘Exploration.’

Every new Experiment is but a small bite into a much larger fruit, but each one also tells us something new about our property, our grapes and about the larger subject of wine itself. Only the most compelling Experiments are bottled and released to our mailing list collectors. Many lessons gleaned from Experiment have in turn become new winery practice and informed successive vintages of an estate wine, such as Hexameter.

Tasting Notes

2022 White Experiment W9.2

For this unique Experiment blend, we decided to throw out the rule book and re-imagine how white wine in California can be fully realized. The result is an unconventional integration of varieties that we culled from around the state. Deliberately not focused on a single site, varietal or style, the W series is imagination set free, ingenuity unbound. W9.2 is a distinctive blend of eight grape varieties from six appellations, ranging from coastal mountain tops to rocky valley floors.

Methodology

W9.2 is a distinctive blend of eight grape varieties from six appellations, ranging from coastal mountain tops to rocky valley floors. Working with growers and vineyards from around California provided the ultimate off-the-beaten-track perspective, while farming conversations among the vines, long commutes to far-flung sites and in-between moments of quiet reflection inspired an elevated effort. The result, we believe, is a complete and compelling expression of a new point of view on white wine.

In Conclusion

Enticing notes of guava, vanilla, rose water, green pear, crane melon and brioche exude from the 2022 Experiment W9.2. On the palate, seamless precision pairs with vibrant acidity and verve giving this wine both delightful balance and freshness. We hope you enjoy this adventurous experiment in white wine.
